BACHELORS AND BAGELS

I emailed my grand-daughter, Gretchen in N.Y.:  ”When you arrive next week, let’s have lunch at Art’s (Studio City, Ca.) or Canter’s (Hollywood,) okay?  In fact, I do have my own HUGE bagels! If you prefer Tofu Cream Cheese, we’ll get that, okay?”  One pack has the toasted cheese bits on them and the other is whole grain.  My guy, Woody, keeps getting upset cuz I keep them in  the freezer and he needs to defrost them in the micro-wave and it all takes time and the micro-wave ruins them.  So he says to me, “Okay, I’ve GOT it!  I’ll buy my own bagels from now on, no more half and half. And I’ll keep them in my  desk, that’s what I’ll do!”  So I said,  ”You go right ahead!” So that’s it, bagels will be bagels, and bachelors will be bachelors, “and that’s the way what it is!”  Yup, that’s life!   These bachelor-guys just haven’t been around housewives’ freezers and fridges so ya can’t expect them to know much about real life and bagels, and what goes on in a gal’s mind, right?  Righto!

A VALLEY GIRL AND HER NEW YORK BAGELS…

greshawnie here…reporting from brooklyn, ny, home of  ”the best bagels in the world.”  my favorite neighborhood bagel spot is “bagelsmith” on bedford avenue in williamsburg.  even though i have definitely stopped eating tooooo many bagels (acupuncturist orders! :) i’ll still write about how delicious and nutritious?? they are.  aaaaaaaaah, the bagel, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, topped w/some tofu cream cheese and yer really in heavuun!!! the best is when the bagel is still warm from coming out of the oven, (otherwise, i ask for it to be lightly toasted.) my favorite is the “everything” bagel…loaded with poppy seeds, onions, garlic and salt, topped with scallion tofu cream cheese.   (it’s got fresh chopped scallion in it, yummmmmmmm!!!)
